Marketing lessons from Smoking cigarettes

I don’t smoke cigarettes. The reason being…

I just don’t like them.

Neither their taste, nor their high.

But, I spare myself from judging those who do. After all, it’s none of my business who inhales what.

But, what my business is to know Marketing–a field filled with uber-BS people saying uber-BS things all the time.

For example, consider this line from the movie “Thank You For Smoking”:

“That’s the beauty of argument, if you argue correctly, you’re never wrong.”

While this line is as true as it gets, it can only work in the short-term, that is, fooling people into believing something.

After that you’re on your own and nobody would ever believe a single word coming out of your mouth.

And this is the false belief that the majority of the marketing world has subscribed to.

And, all those social media goo-roos “teaching” people how marketing is setting up an Instagram page and then liking and commenting under celebrities’ posts, are no different.

Because…

Marketing takes time:

Your message must be getting to the right customers at the right time, daily.

And, there is no shortcut to this.

You either get this right and thrive. Or, get dragged into the crowd of cut-throat competition and eventually die.

(The fact that most business goo-roos take great pleasure in hiding.)

Anyways, none of this matters if your marketing messages aren’t right to start with.

So what you must pay attention to is that your customers are getting the right message… so none of your efforts go into vain.

Crafting this powerful marketing message is what I teach in detail in 50 Shades Of Content Creation.
